Why this single wasn t released under Enigma? - Yes this is very good question, because all elements contain Enigma s style - Sandra s French whispering, Music arrangement and Andru sounds quite like in The Screen Behind The Mirror.If You liked the Enigma s The Screen Behind The Mirror, then this single will be like the Bonus trak to this album. Very good song (I meant radio edit), because remixes aren t something special, but 5 stars for this short radio edit!
Precious Little Rare Single - While Andru Donalds may not be a household name, he will be if they (European music market) release his Snowin Under My Skin c.d. in the U.S. Donald s vocal style fluctuates somewhere in between Simply Red s Mick Hucknall to Maxi Priest s (with a lighter vocal feel). Also, Donald is currently featured on Enigma s Screen Behind the Mirror album on a few tracks as both background and foreground vocals.Which brings up another point. This single, along with the album it originated from, is a Michael Cretu and Jens Gad produced, and co-produced product. Precious Little Diamond is comparable to a track on Enigma s Screen Behind the Mirror entitled Silence Must Be Heard. Precious sounds like a bonus track off of Screen. Sandra Cretu s French whispering sultry vocals are used for backup as well as the Cretu/Gad synthesizer and percussion traits. The original single is mid-tempo (it s not a slow ballad nor is it a techno tune).There s another single on the disc titled Lovelight In Your Eyes, which to me is somewhat of a disappointment. Why ? The title Lovelight In Your Eyes is also used for a Sandra Cretu track on her 1990 import album Paintings In Yellow. The lyrics and style of music was also written and produced by her husband Cretu. However Sandra s was a dance tune.Donald s version is not.Both lyrics and style are completely different and the tempo is more of a slow love ballad.It has great acoustical and percussion work,though ! For any die-hard Enigma/Sandra fans this Lovelight is not the same as hers. I thought it would at least be a re-make of her version...The two remaining ATB re-mixes of Precious Little Diamond are techno-club numbers. Nothing memorable or significant unless you are a d.j. or a dance club devotee.While some collectors of imported or obscure music may question whether or not they should purchase such a single is a very tough call. The reason is the single or actual album it comes from may never be released internationally or to the the U.S. market. Is it worth your U.S. dollars since you cannot sample or hear these imports before you buy them ? Even if you are able to order the actual import album it may only be printed and sold for a very limited time as an import. Donald s current European release c.d. Snowin Under My Skin was once offered as an import through a few reliable music retailers both on and off line, Now, the c.d. is nowhere to be listed... So, in the end a collector takes a chance on letting that rare single slip away. Don t let the credible collaboration between Donald s and Cretu on Precious Little Diamond slip from your fingers!
